Nordic IN unites trade union forcesNordic IN is a federation of 22 affiliated unions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. They represent all together 1,2 million employees in the metal, energy, chemical, plastic, paper and mining industries. They cooperate through Nordic IN, in order to unite their forces for a stronger influence in Europe and the world. The platform for the cooperation are the decisions taken by the Congress (Nordiskt Forum) and the Executive Committee, as well as common values such as international solidarity, equality and the respect for human rights. The key areas of work for Nordic IN are Collective Bargaining, Company Policy, Education and Training, Health and Safety, Industrial Policy and support for Organisational Development of trade unions in the Baltic States, as well as for Europe and the rest of the trade union world. The Work Programme is decided by the Congress, that meets every two years. The latest meeting was in June 2007, when the Congress also elected a new president, Stefan Löfven from the Swedish Union IF Metall. Nordic IN is a result of a merger between two Nordic federations, Nordic Metal and NIF. The merger took place 1st of January 2006. The Swedish name of Nordic IN is Industrianställda i Norden, IN.
