What’s on?

On this page we will shortly inform about things that has been done in order to fulfill the objectives of the Work Programme.

Nordic-Baltic Forum

Nordic IN arranges Nordic-Baltic Forum. At this conference the Nordic and Baltic trade unions in the chemical, paper and textile sectors have the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss trade union matters at European and global level.

At the Nordic-Baltic Forum in 2007 some 30 trade unionists from trade unions in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden participated. Some of the issues dealt with were the Baltic trade unions involvement in the work of the European Works Councils, as well as some Nordic-Baltic development projects.

Next Nordic-Baltic Forum will be in Vilnius in September 2008.

Merger seminars

Many of the Baltic trade unions are small and their resources are limited. For that reason Nordic IN have arranged seminars that among other things described mergers of trade unions as a way to increase the trade unions force, by pooling resources and make the work more effective. Different scenarios for the future were discussed and the way to carry out a merger was described, with the help of some examples from the Nordic countries.

The seminars have been carried out in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
